In REALL, students mobilize their own talents and improve their language skills while they capture 21st century life skills: creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and confidence. REALL is free, fun, and open to everyone! English language skills are the keys to success for the youth of Kuwait, so LET’S UNLOCK THE DOOR AND START THE ENGINE!
REALL MISSION
Read English Actively for Language and Life Skills, – was established in 2017 as a TESOL Kuwait Special Interest Group. Its mission is to instill language and life skills in students via active reading, drama, poetry, plays, narrations, songs, and monologues. REALL dovetails students’ need for English language skills with their innate creativity and diverse cultural backgrounds to stage language and cultural arts performances blending education with entertainment. Students discover new talents and improve their language skills while they also acquire the 7C’s 21st century life skills: collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication, compromise, camaraderie, and above all confidence.
REALL fission
REALL first split the atom when students stood up unchained. Why fill in blanks when you can REALLY experience English body-mind-heart-and soul by actively embodying it? Vast reservoirs of renewable student energy were unleashed in the November 2017 language arts festival. Interest continues to multiply and REALL’s growth trajectory
• More school and college outreaches via REALL school visits and workshops.
• More student/educator/school interest in joining future festivals.
• More festivals as more acts are submitted from the region and beyond.
• More global development through TESOL International’s Arts and Creativity Interest Section.
ULTIMATE VISION
English is the global language. Millions of humans can FEEL it. The tool of REALL’s trade, it can empower students’ lives, but that’s not all, at all. REALL’s ULTIMATE VISION is to HUMANIZE world cultures and HARMONIZE human consciousness by experiencing arts through the global language English. How can you hurt or hate anyone when you have felt the beauty of their language and culture?
REALL is the counterweight to the dehumanizing forces of world governments and media. All manner of HUMANITY cross paths on the REALL stage, showcasing the beauty of their cultural expressions in English. And all manner of HUMANITY can now understand them.
